A very important phase in the world of football has came again. The winter transfer window has just started and few big transfers have already taken place. It has almost been a week since the opening of the January transfer window has been open for a week now. The January transfer window opens on Saturday January 1, 2022 and will close at 11pm on Monday January 31. This window is usually idle as compared to the summer. In this window, football players can be bought and sold across Europe and beyond. Usually this transfer window is used for offloading unhappy players or bringing in fresh talents due to injury concerns. Let’s take a look at 3 big transfers already completed in the January transfer window.
Kieran Trippier – Atletico Madrid to Newcastle United – €14.4 million
I’m so happy to be joining Newcastle. Everyone knows the fans are unbelievably passionate and I will give my absolute all for them. I can’t wait to get to work 💪🏼

In a very unlikely transfer, Kieran Trippier has made a switch from Atletico Madrid to Newcastle United. It was quite shocking because the player choose to leave the La Liga champions for a club which is currently at the relegation spot in the Premier League. Trippier was a part of the squad that won the La Liga title last season.
After the arrival of new owners, Newcastle United have been determined to make big signings. There is no doubt that Trippier will proved to be a great signing for them. He will be a significant upgrade on their current full-backs. Kieran Trippier has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Newcastle United. It is said that the 31-year old wanted to return to England. He will make his debut for Newcastle United against Cambridge in an FA Cup encounter.
Philippe Coutinho – Barcelona to Aston Villa – Loan
It will be a second loan spell for Philippe Coutinho since signing for Barcelona. His football career has been on a low since joining the Catalans from Liverpool. Now he is set to make a return in Premier League as he will join Aston Villa for the remainder of the season. This might be a opportunity for him to get back on track because he will be working under his former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard. The former Liverpool captain is currently the manager of Aston Villa.
Before joining Barcelona in 2018, Coutinho was one of the best players not only in Liverpool but also in the Premier League. However, that move was quite toxic for his career. Now he will be looking forward to revive his career in the Premier League.
Coutinho has agreed to join Aston Villa on a six-month loan deal and the Premier League outfit will also have a purchase option.

This is the biggest transfer of the January transfer window so far. Ferran Torres has been sidelined with a fractured foot but will now make a return with the Spanish club. The youngster joined Manchester City in the summer of 2020. This move has been highly criticised because Barcelona has been in huge debt and to spend this much money on Ferran Torres is quite shocking.
Torres has made 43 appearances across all competitions for Manchester City, in which he scored 16 goals and provided four assists. Torres came into limelight after he finished as the top goalscorer in the UEFA Nations League earlier this year. Ferran Torres is a youngster with pace and great technical ability. He might be the long term solution to the problems of Barcelona in their frontline.
Torres has signed a five-year contract with Barcelona. His registration is now set to be clear after the departure of Coutinho to Aston Villa.
