Three England players, Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, and Chris Woakes have decided to pull out of the second phase of IPL 2021. Due to a breach in the bio bubble in IPL 2021, it was postponed and scheduled to be held in September. BCCI decided to host the remaining matches of IPL 2021 in the UAE. Fans are happy because finally, the IPL is returning. However, this news will be quite bitter for the fans of the above players’ teams. After the cancellation of the 5th and final test match between England and India at Manchester, the players were supposed to leave for UAE to join their respective teams for IPL 2021. This news of English players pulling out of IPL came just a day after the cancellation of the 5th test. Therefore, fans want to know why Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, and Chris Woakes pulled out of IPL 2021.
The three players of England who have decided to pull out of IPL 2021 are :
Sunrisers Hyderabad – Jonny Bairstow
Punjab Kings – Dawid Malan
Delhi Capitals – Chris Woakes

Are England players leaving IPL 2021?
There have been rumors that due to conflict between the England Cricket Board and BCCI, the England players decided not to take part in the second phase of IPL 2021. For your information, let us clear that this is all fake. Although there have been some disagreements between the two boards after the cancellation of the final test match it is not true that ECB decided to keep their players away from IPL. This cannot be true because Moeen Ali and Sam Curran are the two players from England’s most recent Test squad who are going to UAE to join CSK camp.

The fifth Test between India and England which was scheduled in Manchester was postponed indefinitely after a junior physio of the Indian team tested positive for the virus ahead of the game. Other members of India’s support staff, including head Ravi Shastri, were already in quarantine after they tested positive for the virus during the fourth Test at the Oval. Therefore, the Indian cricketers decided not to play the final test match because there was fear of Covid.
On social media, some personalities and fanboys are blaming BCCI and IPL for the cancellation of the final match of the test series. The IPL will start from 19th September. It was being said that if the test match was postponed by few days then it would have affected IPL. Therefore, the Indian players decided not to play the 5th match. However, it is all baseless.
Why did England players pull out of IPL 2021?
Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, and Chris Woakes have pulled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) due to personal reasons. The main reason behind their withdrawal from IPL is the quarantine period.

After the conclusion of the Test Series, the England and Indian players were supposed to reach UAE from Manchester together in a bubble to bubble transfer but COVID-19 cases in the visitors’ camp forced IPL teams to make their own arrangements. Due to positive cases in the camp, all players arriving in UAE now have to do a six-day quarantine. That might be the reason behind Bairstow, Woakes, and Malan pulling out. Bubble life has mentally disturbed the players and with the T20 World Cup to follow in UAE, not playing the IPL would allow more family time to these cricketers.
Another reason is the upcoming T20 World Cup and the Ashes. All three are also part of England’s Ashes plans. So at that time, they have to go in quarantine again because Australia has imposed some of the harshest restrictions in the world on incoming travelers in the COVID times. The players choose to put England first before a busy winter that features the T20 World Cup and the Ashes.
