In a few days, the second phase of IPL 2021 will commence in UAE. Due to Covid-19 situation, IPL 2021 was stopped midway and was postponed. In view of pandemic in India, BCCI decided to shift the remaining part of Indian Premier League to United Arab Emirates. Many cricketers have already arrived in UAE ahead of IPL 2021 and the rest will arrive in a few days. Kolkata Knight Riders’ opener Shubman Gill also arrived in the UAE on Sunday. He will stay in quarantine in the team hotel for six days before he joins the rest of the squad for practice.
In an interview to KKR, Shubman Gill was confident about KKR reaching to the playoffs of this seasons’ IPL. KKR has been lying in the bottom half of the table. They have managed to win just 2 out of 7 matches in the first half of the season.
Here’s what Shubman Gill said:
“I think a break was really important. Sometimes such things happen that you don’t expect. I think we are very much in the contention to finish in the Top 4. Whichever team qualifies, you never know what will happen. So, hopefully we will win the remaining matches, make sure we qualify and then we’ll see where we go from there.”
