As the T20 World Cup is coming near, countries have started confirming their squads for the tournament. On Thursday, 9 September, South Africa also announced their squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Some veterans are missing from the list of selected players. Temba Bavuma will captain a young side in the UAE for the upcoming World Cup. The rumors of AB De Villers coming out of retirement for T20 World Cup 2021 also came to a halt with the announcement of the squad.

At present, Bavuma is recovering from a thumb injury and it is expected that he will be fit in time for the tournament. Keshav Maharaj will captain South Africa in the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka in Bavuma’s absence.

All-rounder Chris Morris, former captain Faf du Plessis, and veteran leg-spinner Imran Tahir do not get a chance to feature in the squad.
