In 7 matches, David Warner scored 289 runs at an average of 48.17 and a strike rate of 146.70. He was also given the Player of the Tournament award.
It was quite surprising to see Warner back to his original form because at the start of the T20 World Cup 2021, his form was a huge concern for Australian team. He had the worst season of IPL this year. In 8 matches, he only managed to score 195 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad and was also dropped from the team. Even after all this, Warner made a strong come back for Australia in the T20 World Cup where it mattered most and silenced all his critics. He also played a match-winning 53-run knock off just 38 balls in the final against New Zealand. Warner finished the season as the second highest run-scorer.
2. Jos Butler
Buttler scored 269 runs in 6 matches at an average of close to 90 and S/R was 151.12. He was the third-highest run-scorer of the tournament. It was unfortunate for him as he was not able to lead England to the WC trophy, but he definitely had an amazing outing with the bat in this campaign. He scored the only century of the tournament in the match against Bangladesh. He will open along with David Warner.
3. Babar Azam (C)
The Pakistan’s skipper finished as the highest run-scorer of the T20 world cup 2021. He score 303 runs at an average of 60.60. Babar showed an amazing consistency by scoring four half-centuries in the tournament. He will be the captain of our team of the tournament. Although Babar opens the innings but he is also capable of taking the score forward in powerplay overs and therefore he is our number three candidate.
