The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the squad for upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The 15-member squad will be led by skipper Babar Azam. Pakistan lost the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka. In the recent years, Pakistan have done really well in the shortest format of cricket and therefore they definitely have the potential to win the Asia Cup this year. Several expected names have failed to make into the squad for Asia Cup. Veteran all-rounder of the game, Mohammad Hafeez, popularly known as the Professor, also failed to get a place in the squad. Fans expected to see his name in the squad because he is among the most experienced players in the shortest format of the game. Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is not present in the Pakistan’s squad because he has retired from cricket. The player announced his retirement from international cricket on January 03, 2022 ending a career that spanned over 18 years.

Hafeez had already taken retirement from Test cricket in 2018 and not played in an ODI since ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2019. However, he continued to play T20 franchise cricket.

Hafeez made his international debut for Pakistan in 2003 in an ODI against Zimbabwe. Since then, he played a total of 392 international matches for Pakistan. In those matches, he scored 12,780 runs and picked 253 wickets. His last international game came against Australia in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final in November 2021.
