The upcoming IPL 2025 Auction is going to be very important for all the ten teams. It will be the final opportunity for the teams to build their squad from scratch. Each franchise will look forward to acquire players who can be their long term partners. Some teams will target young talent whereas some teams will look for a new captain. In this article we will talk about Royal Challengers Bangalore and its approach towards the IPL auction.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had quite a successful campaign in the 2024 edition of the tournament as they were able to reach the play offs. South Africa’s Du Plessis, Australian hitter Glenn Maxwell and Virat Kohli were the best performers for the side. However, the situation will be quite different for the next season. The management need to rebuild the squad as they don’t have full time keeper after Karthik’s retirement. The team also need to invest in a long term skipper as Du Plessis is in the last phase of his career. Let’s take a look at the target players of RCB in IPL 2025 Auction.
Royal Challengers Bangalore retained and released players list
Let’s have a look at players that RCB can target in the IPL 2025 auctions.
Rishbah Pant
There have been rumors that Pant wants to join Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Bangalore franchise is also keen to find an Indian skipper since Virat Kohli resigned from captaincy. Faf is also a good captain but he is in the ending years of his career. Therefore, the team needs a player for long term who can lead the team. Pant is the best option for that spot. The chemistry between Virat and Pant is also very well.
KL Rahu
There are high chances that RCB can bid for KL Rahul. The reason is the he is their local Bengaluru boy, who was once a part of their squad. Rahul has already played for RCB from 2013 to 2016, during which he scored 417 runs. Rahul has huge experience as both a leader and a player. He might be the right one to lead RCB for upcoming years. With Dinesh Karthik’s retirement, the team is also looking for a keeper. Rahul can fulfill that too. Faf is unlikely to be retained by RCB and therefore there is need for a skipper and KL Rahul might be the correct one to fill that spot.
Mayank Yadav
The one department that always haunts RCB is its fast bowling department. At present, Siraj is the only recognized pacer in Bangalore’s squad. The franchise had released Harshal Patel and Josh Hazlewood ahead of IPl 2024 auction. Assessing the present situation, it is high time for RCB to bid all out for young fast bowler Mayak Yadav. Mayank is a highly skilled fast bowler, known for his pace and ability to swing the ball. If RCB is looking to bolster its pace attack, the youngster could be a valuable addition.
