The existing eight franchises of the Indian Premier League have announced their final lists of retained players on November 30 ahead of the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auctions. The upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction is going to be very important for all the ten teams. It will be the final opportunity for the teams to build their squad from scratch. Each franchise will look forward to acquire players who can be their long term partners. There was a limit on the number of retentions for each team. And many teams have not even utilized their four retentions so that they can have a higher purse amount for the mega auction. Some teams will target young talent whereas some teams will look for a new captain. In this article we will talk about Sunrisers Hyderabad and its approach towards the mega auction. It will be interesting to see who they will target after releasing their star players. 2022 Mega Auction SRH five target players.

One of the teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) who have had a rough couple of seasons is Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and 2021 being their one of the worst as they ended up at bottom of the points table. The retentions of the franchise were most surprising. Sunrisers retained their skipper Kane Williamson (14 crores) along with the young players Umran Malik (4 crores) and Abdul Samad(4 crores) for the forthcoming IPL 2022. It was pretty clear that David Warner would not be retained by the franchise after how things folded up by the end of IPL 2021 between him and the team management. They also released one of their key players Rashid Khan for the auction. Now the Sunrisers Hyderabad are left with a huge amount of 68 crores for the upcoming auction.
Faf Du Plessis
Now that he’s been released by Chennai Super Kings, many teams will be after the Proteas star. Sunrisers Hyderabad would be even more eager to have him having let go off their star opener David Warner. SRH have had their troubles in the partnership last season and they will look for an opener. The former South African skipper is coming off a tremendous outing in IPL 2021 where he finished as the second-highest run-getter in the league. His superb 86 in the final is what pushed the Super Kings to secure their 4th title in 2021 Apart from his prowess with the bat; du Plessis brings a lot to the table with his experience and stunning fielding abilities, making him a perfect package. He could be their big purchase of this auction. He is the top candidate in the list of SRH target players 2022.
Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis will be one of the key all-rounders who will be up for grabs in IPL 2022. He has been an integral member of the Delhi Capitals squad. However, Stoinis was released by DC ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction. A shaky middle-order was Hyderabad’s biggest problem last season where they finished last on the points table. Apart from Manish Pandey, no one looked anywhere close to shouldering the responsibility and Marcus Stoinis could be the right player to fill the void. The Aussie has been in tremendous form lately.
Moreover, Stoinis has the ability to open the batting and can roll his hands over for a couple of handy overs. To go with his solidity, the Aussie is capable of providing some much-needed firepower that will ease the load on young Abdul Samad. Stoinis too is yet another player who fits the requirements of Sunriser’s squad. The all-rounder is a prospective name in the list of SRH target players 2022 mega auction.
KS Bharat
When Royal Challengers Bangalore bought KS Bharat for his base price of INR 20 lakh at the IPL 2021 auction, his T20 batting stats weren’t too flashy: an average of 17.80 at a strike rate of 106.10 in 48 games. He had been a more than competent wicketkeeper in domestic cricket; his game was not built for the heat of the shortest format. But the last two seasons have been radically different to the one before. Bharat showed glimpses of his development in the UAE leg of the IPL, and his selection was vindicated when he sealed victory with a last-ball six against Delhi Capitals, where he had scored 78* off 52. Sunrisers are known for investing in young talent and KS Bharat is just that player they might want to add in their lower order with a package of his wicket keeping skills. His wicket keeping ability keeps him in the list of SRH target players 2022.
Thangarasu Natarajan
T Natarajan’s rise in international cricket has served as an inspiration to all Indian cricket fans. The left-arm pacer from Tamil Nadu rose to prominence after playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad itself in the IPL 2020. He picked up 16 wickets from 16 matches at an impressive economy of 8.02 in the 2020 season. His ability to execute Yorkers at will has impressed everyone. A spectacular moment of his career was when he dismissed AB de Villiers with a scorching Yorker and derailed RCB’s innings in the Eliminator. But unfortunately he was unable to play in the first half of the IPL 2021 owing to injury. In the second half of the competition, he was infected with Covid-19, which caused him to miss all of the matches in the UAE. Natarajan’s ability to bowl in the death overs makes him a very valuable asset. In the death, his perfect Yorkers and accurate slower ones are difficult to handle. All of the franchises in the next big auctions will be eyeing him as their premier death bowler and Sunrisers would like to get him back.
Washington Sundar
Sundar was unlikely to be retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore anyways. Now other teams will have eyes on him. Sunrisers Hyderabad spin department has been surrounded with the overseas players of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammad Nabi and Shahbaz Nadeem. Sunrisers might go for an Indian spinner. This will also be a big boost to their Indian contingent. Sundar is someone who can even bat and should suit their needs. Sundar boasts an economy rate of 7.24 in T20 Internationals. That he delivers most of his overs in the Powerplay adds to his stock in that regard. He will add depth to their batting line up as well.
