Chris Gayle is not playing for West Indies in T20 World Cup 2022 because he didn’t get a place in the 15 member squad. The reason behind his non selection is that he is no more in the plans of West Indian selectors.
Gayle last appearance for West Indies in a T20 international came on 6 November 2021. It was against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. He has not yet announced his retirement from international cricket but it is quite clear that it was his last match. In the match against Australia, Gayle walked off to a standing ovation from his teammates after he was clean bowled by Pat Cummins. He might get a farewell match so that he can retire in front of his home crowd in Jamaica.
