The dynamic right-handed batsman from Colac, Victoria, has not only made a mark with his explosive batting but has also earned recognition as the captain of the Australian cricket team. Aaron Finch, with his leadership acumen and fearless approach to the game, has emerged as a prominent figure in international cricket. Aaron Finch led Australian team to the semi-finals of the ICC ODI World and T20 World Cup title. Unfortunately, Finch is not playing at the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The Australian team announced its squad for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which is scheduled to be held in India. The 15-member squad will be led by skipper Pat Cummins. Australia have won five ODI Cricket World Cups (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015). They last won the tournament in 2015. Australia has historically been one of the most dominant cricket teams in the world. The team has a rich cricketing tradition and a highly successful history and they definitely have the potential to win the ODI World Cup this year. One of the most notable omission from the Australia’s World Cup squad is of batsman Aaron Finch.  Fans expected to see him playing at the World Cup 2023. Finch is not playing for Australia at the ODI World Cup in India because the player has already announced his retirement from international cricket. Finch remained the captain of Austrian Cricket Team for a long time. He represented his nation in 254 international matches across all formats, playing five Tests, 146 ODIs and 103 T20Is. Finch led Australia in a world record 76 men’s T20Is, as well as in 55 ODIs. Finch announced his retirement from ODIs on 9 September, 2022 but continue to represent the team in T20s and later on retired from all formats on 6 February 2023.
