Destructive all-rounder De Russ is not playing in T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia because he has not been selected in the West Indies squad for the tournament. The board was not convinced with Russell’s performances and form. He had a quiet bad campaign in CPL 2022 so far with Trinbago Knight Riders. His top score was of just 17 runs. Therefore, Russell was ignored by the selectors for T20 World Cup 2022. His last appearance for West Indies came last year in T20 World Cup 2021.
CWI chief selector Desmond Haynes said that they had a meeting with Russell in the beginning of the year. However, they have not been convinced with him as he has not been performing up to the standards in the CPL. The selectors have moved on from Andre Russell and are in search for someone who is in form.
