Why Jason Roy is not selected in England T20 World Cup 2022 Squad ?
Jason Roy opened the innings in all matches of T20 World Cup 2021. He played a good knock only against Bangladesh. His stats were quite bad in the last edition. Even after the tournament, he failed to find his form. It was quite clear that he was struggling to score runs in the shortest format of the game. Since November 2021, Roy scored just 206 runs at an average of 18.72. Therefore, the selectors took a hard decision and dropped him for the squad.
It was necessary to take this decision and drop Jason Roy. It was planned that Jonny Bairstow will open the innings alongside Jos Buttler in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. However, Bairstow was ruled out after suffering an injury. The England Cricket Team selected Alex Hales as the replacement of Jonny. Jason Roy was again ignored by the selectors.
