In the IPL 2023 Auction, all the 10 teams have build up their final squads for the upcoming season. One of the most interesting teams out of the ten is DC. In the beginning, Delhi based franchise quite often found themselves at the bottom of the IPL but they have improved so much since the last three seasons. Delhi Capitals retained four players ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction and therefore were left with a low amount. DC entered the field of IPL 2022 Mega Auction with the aim to cover the important areas and get a few clutch players who can win matches for them. They also try to get some of their old players. DC bid for Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin and Kagiso Rabada, but failed to get anyone of the above because of their low amount in the purse.

In IP 2023 auctions, Delhi Capitals bought the following players:-

  1. Ishant Sharma (INR 50 lakh)
  2. Phil Salt (INR 2 crore)
  3. Mukesh Kumar (INR 5.5 crore)
  4. Manish Pandey (INR 2.4 crore)
  5. Rilee Rossouw (INR 4.6 crore)

It is evident from the Delhi Capitals 2023 squad that they have been able to cover almost all the important bases. After the mega auction, they have a fresh-looking squad who will settle for nothing short of an IPL title.

After DC failed to get Shikhar Dhawan in the mega auction, DC wanted an experienced opener to pair with Shaw. They were successful in doing so by getting Australian batsman Warner who is almost a like-for-like replacement for Dhawan. Warner has played for DC in the past and will be a familiar figure for the fans. In the batting section, youngster Yash Dhull might also get the opportunity to shine if he gets a start. Apart from them, Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant are there.

Skipper Rishabh Pant is the wicketkeeper of Delhi Capitals. He is likely to bat at four. DC have purchased Phil Salt as a backup keeper in the squad.

Marsh is a player who can bowl fairly at regular intervals and chipped with wickets. Marsh will be the DC’s x-factor player. He can bat at no. 3 or 4. Another star all-rounder in DC squad is Axar Patel. He has doen enough in the previous seasons for DC to prove his worth. Axar can produce handy cameos with the bat.
Lalit Yadav has shown that he can play big shots and come up with match-winning innings lower down the order. DC has got brilliant all-rounders in Marsh, Axar, and Lalit Yadav.

DC’s bowling was quite lethal for the past few seasons with Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada. DC lost Rabada in the mega auction and to replace them, they have bought three left-arm pacers in Mustafizur Rahman, Khaleel Ahmed, and Chetan Sakariya. It will be exciting to see if they stand up to the mark set by Rabada.

DC has played a big gamble by going for Kuldeep Yadav. The experience and skills of Kuldeep are unquestionable but he has been out of form for a long time.

In the IPL 2023 auctions, Delhi Capitals bought Mukesh Kumar for a whooping 5.5 crore.

Delhi Capitals have a healthy enough options on the bench who are good enough to fit in the playing XI at any time. They are perfect backups for the likely starters. DC has built a squad which covers almost all the bases. The team has been one of the most dangerous and consistent teams in the past three seasons. With this new squad, DC are hoping for their first IPL title.
