T20 World Cup is just a few months away. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will be hosted by the BCCI in Oman and the United Arab Emirates from 17 October to 14 November. The shortest format of the cricket is the most loved one by fans. T20 World Cup will surely attract immense crowd and audience. The exciting T20 format is known for its surprises and all teams must be prepared for the same. Cricket fans will witness some exciting and nail-biting games in the upcoming edition of T20 World Cup. This edition of T20 World Cup was hosted by South Africa. India defeated Pakistan in the final match. Shahid Afridi was the first person to receive the Player of the Tournament award in T20 World Cup history. In the 2007 Edition, he performed brilliantly with the ball, earning the Man of the Series award, though he failed to take a wicket in the final and was out for a golden duck.
T20 World Cup 2009 Player of the Tournament – Tillakaratne Dilshan

This edition of T20 World Cup was hosted by England. Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the final match. Tillakaratne Dilshan was declared Man of the Series for his heroic performances for Sri Lanka. Although he was not able to win the tournament for his nation. Dilshan was out for a duck in the final against Pakistan. He scored 317 runs at an average of 63.40.
T20 World Cup 2010 Player of the Tournament – Kevin Pietersen

This edition of T20 World Cup was hosted by West Indies. England defeated Australia in the final match. Kevin Pietersen was the main reason behind the success of England in the tournament. Pietersen scored 248 runs in the 6 matches he played at an average of 62 and strike rate of 137. He scored two half-centuries in the tournament. Kevin Pietersen was awarded the player of the tournament for his consistent performances.
T20 World Cup 2012 Player of the Tournament – Shane Watson

This edition of T20 World Cup was hosted by Sri Lanka. West Indies defeated Sri Lanka in the final match. Australia all-rounder Shane Watson was named as the player of the tournament at the conclusion of the ICC World Twenty20 Sri Lanka 2012. The 31-year-old scored a total of 249 runs in six innings of the tournament at an average of 49.80. He also took 11 wickets at an average of 16.00 and an economy-rate of 7.33 with his extremely useful medium pace bowling.
T20 World Cup 2014 Player of the Tournament – Virat Kohli

This edition of T20 World Cup was hosted by Bangladesh. Sri Lanka defeated India in the final match. Virat Kohli was awarded the player of the tournament for his outstanding performances. The Indian skipper was brilliant in this tournament and carried India on his shoulders to the final. He played a good knock in the finals also but it was not enough to secure a win for India.
Virat Kohli finished as the top run-scorer in the tournament. He scored a massive 319 runs in 6 games at an average of 106.33. He also scored four half-centuries in the tournament.

This edition of T20 World Cup was hosted by India. West Indies defeated England in the final match. Virat Kohli again showed his excellence in the 2016 T20 World Cup and was awarded with Player of the tournament. He won two consecutive player of the tournament awards. However, he was not able to win the T20 World Cup for India again. Kohli was the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament. He scored 273 runs in 5 games at a sensation average of 136.50. He scored three half-centuries in the tournament.
