Why Deepak Chahar is not playing in T20 World Cup 2022?

Deepak Chahar is not playing in T20 World Cup 2022 because he sustained an injury which ruled him out of the World Cup. Initially, he did not get a place in the 15-member squad of India. He was kept in the list of standby players. The selectors did not pick him in the main squad because he was injured for most of the time and did not play sufficient cricket in 2022.
However, Chahar was seen as the perfect replacement for Jasprit Bumrah who was ruled out of the tournament with a back injury. Chahar was also named in the playing 11 against South Africa. But he sustained a back injury after the third and final T20I against South Africa and also did not feature in India’s Playing XI in the first ODI in Lucknow.
In the end, Mohammed Shami was named as the replacement for injured Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur has been brought in as the replacement for Deepak Chahar in the reserves.
