Why Ishan Kishan is not selected in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad ?
It was quite unfortunate for Ishan Kishan to be unable to find a place in the Indian Squad. He was a crucial part in the last edition of T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup. However, he did not perform up to his expectations in that tournament. There was no place for Ishan Kishan in the squad as the selectors decided to go with Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant. Ishan was also removed from the central contract due to disciplinary reasons.
Ishan Kishan has been overlooked for the T20 World Cup 2024 owing to Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant’s return to the Indian side. The Mumbai Indians opener played his last T20I against West Indies, where he scored 11 off 13 deliveries. Ishan has displayed consistency in 2022. In the beginning, it was being assumed that the selectors are seeing Ishan as the opener of the team. In 2022, he was India’s second highest-run scorer in the shortest format with 430 runs at an average of 30.71. Kishan has smashed three half-centuries with a best individual score of 89.
The reason behind his omission is quite clear. The comeback of Rishabh Pant in the team is the reason why Ishan Kishan is not included in India’s squad for T20 World Cup 2024.
